Transportation

Performing, protecting, bringing style

As modern means of transport become faster, more reliable and more efficient, demands on materials to perform become harder. Silicones not only meet these demands but enable many other products to function as well.

Freedom to innovate

Silicone products have played a critical role in the pioneering transport sector. Technological advances to reduce environmental pollution, increase safety and improve cost effectiveness have led to much higher temperatures in the engine compartment of cars, ships, airplanes and other vehicles. As pieces get smaller to minimise waste and maximise energy efficiency, the extreme temperatures combined with exposure to the elements (moisture, salts, various fuels, etc.) place extremely high demands on the materials. Most materials deteriorate in these extreme conditions - not silicones. Silicones retain their strength and adhesive properties and - most important - ensure the vehicle operates safely for the long haul.
