» Anglers love silicones

Silicone is easier to work with than epoxies and can be used to make some interesting flies. Silicone is softer than epoxy, so it gives the fly a more natural feeling.

If you coat your materials with silicone, the fly will feel spongy and the silicone will help keep the fly from absorbing water.

Generally, all you do is tie the fly and place the silicone where it is needed. On shrimp patterns, it is used for the shell back. You can cover the body of flies with silicone.

This material has a lot of possibilities. Experiment with it and see what you can come up with.
