Versatile, gentle silicones are the essential raw materials of nearly every personal care product. Superior aesthetic characteristics, as well as excellent moisturising and cleansing properties make silicones the ideal ingredient.

In shampoos and conditioners silicones give a silky feeling and increase the manageability, smoothness and shine of hair. In deodorants, they ensure an even spread that is dry to the touch.

In facial cosmetics, lotions and cleansing creams, silicone oils add that rich, smooth texture. In lipstick, they make sure that the colour lasts and lips remain moisturised.

Cosmetics fall into two main categories. Skin care cosmetics cleanse, condition and protect the skin, while colour cosmetics are mostly used for "decoration". But these boundaries are almost fluid.
